Fresh Start 4R’s Outreach Service began in 2007 as a service of reconciliation of the broken and outcast, the homeless, families living in shelters, and those seeking employment services, under the then named Restoration for Destiny Ministries, Inc. (RDM), a 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit Corporation. RDM provided food, clothing, job search assistance, childcare, and additional social services.
The mission continued in Indiana and the surrounding Chicago Areas where we were nominated and selected to Host, the Purdue University's Pregnancy and Parenting Education of Adolescents through Extension (PPEATE), Mothers’ to Be Program. Our 4R’s Daycare Center, hired and assisted 4 daycare assistants, in addition; provided low cost and free daycare to assist families, workshops in employment Application procedures, resumes evaluations and mocked interviews were held. RDM transition to Virginia and our then DBA, Gifts of Help continued to service the homeless with weekly meals on wheels.
Upon Arrival in Virginia, RDM collaborated with other organizations and continued to service the Tidewater area in its services. Our attention focused on families in shelters and their children.
In 2017, Fresh Start Outreach Service was formed to serve families as they transitioned to their own homes. RDM worked diligently with other agencies and business such as (Cinema Café Chesapeake, Virginia 23321, Management Team Walmart-Sam’s Club, Publix) to assist the families. Fresh Start began to explore additional avenues of reconciliation, as many of the family’s father or mother was incarcerated. Fresh Start held symposiums and invited shelters, schools, and other community leaders to support in recognizing children living in shelters, for their high academic achievements and resilience.
The mission of reconciliation continues today as we added an additional service to assist the ex-offenders and their family in their fresh start, inclusive of our newly added 4R’s coaching services.
